Living the Good Life In Georgetown Texas: Let it Snow..Let it Snow...Let it Snow

Let it Snow..Let it Snow...Let it Snow

Ot maybe we should sing "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" because the weather forecast for Central Texas tomorrow (Dec 4) is a 70-80% chance of snow.  Yes SNOW!  Now I know all of my blog readers up in the the northern states are yawning and thinking big deal, so what.  Well, down here in the sunny south where the snowbirds flock every November it is a BIG DEAL!.  Last time we had any appreciable snow was 10 yrs ago and that was less than an inch.  This time we might get 2-4 inches.  Should make the Christmas Stroll in Georgetown this weekend feel like Rockefeller Center in New York at Christmas.  The downside to this is Texas drivers have no concept of the white stuff and how it affects driving conditions.  Typically they jump in the family SUV or crew cab pickup and barrell down the freeway like any other day only to discover too late that they can't stop...or steer.  It's a mess of tangled vehicles and cars in ditches any time there is precipitation much less ice or snow.  Hey, we've been in a 2 year drought we forgot how to drive in wet stuff.  Mix in slick and we're in a heap of trouble down here.  So my advice is to stay home. no one is going to miss you at work anyway because everyone will be playing in the snow.  If you aren't then I hope you're either a policeman, fireman, or a wrecker driver because you'll be busy.

Snow? Wow....what fun! We are getting rain, not active raining, just rain. I might have to run to my cabin for a little snow though.

We're way drier than usual this year, so I'm singing the same song (let it snow) or at least rain. enjoy yours if you get it!

Wow,  I sat right up when I saw you said snow, in Texas.  We were supposed to get some today, not sure if it will be happening today or not.

Wish it would snow here... well, a few years ago we had snow on our foothills for about an hour.  We can see the snow from our golf courses and backyard pools, but it is up on the mountains.  Snowing in Dallas?  Now that is amazing!

Thanks for the comments, we are all getting ready like it's gonna be a blizzard.  Went to Walmart for more Christmas lights(ya can never have enough) and the weather was all everyone was talking about.  You wouldn't think bad weather is on the way because it's 50 degrees and sunny today but the weather around here can change on a dime.  Meanwhile I'm on the roof stringing lights. Hopefully I can post a pic of a white rooftop lit up like the Griswold's house.

Tonight's news said 50%, so I'll believe it when I see it.  Schools are already set to close early, which I find humerous.

Hi Donna, I guess I'm still a kid at heart.  I was disappointed in the backpeddling from the weather forecasters.  Glad I don't have a biology test or something tomorrow am.  I'd be in trouble since I was planning on skipping school(work).

That's Crazy Mike!  Here in Calgary Alberta, we're in the midst of a Blizzard that's expected to continue throughout the day tomorrow.  I've already shovelled the snow out of our driveway once today.  Thankfully, me and my family are all safe and warm, cozied up to the fire... The thing is, I thought my husband should consider himself lucky, because he's going to be leaving all this on Monday to go to Texas for the week.  I just informed him of your forecast ;P

Sorry about the blizzard Bernice.  As it turned out the snow forecast at least for us in Georgetown was a bust.  We were in some sorta dry zone, areas nw and se of us got anywhere from an inch to parts of Houston that got upwards of 3 inches. Don't worry though, it's all gone.. just clear and cold (for us anyway) a chilly 45 daytime and 28 at night.  I'm sure your husband will be loving it and wearing shorts.

Thanks Mike.  I'll let him know.  Today we spent a leisurely snow day, shovelling the driveway, buiding a gingerbread house & keeping warm by the fire.  He'll be thrilled to land in Texas I'm sure.
