One of the greatest features of Georgetown Texas is it's beautiful San Gabriel Park, the keystone of Georgetown's extensive park system.
The park is near the center of town and occupies the original river crossing and sacred campground used by the native American Indians. There are centuries old live oak trees that the Indians tied down as saplings to mark the trail.
Park amenities include a Gazebo for Events
hiking trails, softball and baseball diamonds, a rodeo arena, many soccer fields, disc golf course, playgrounds and more.
Of course nothiing is more fun than just meeting friends and family at the park and enjoying grilled hot dogs.
afterwards you can feed the ducks or take a bike ride to work off all those calories
Nothing is more relaxing than to spend the day in Georgetown's San Gabriel Park

Mike it looks like a really great park....that's really interesting about the oak trees....peace zane
Hi Zane, The park has several natural springs that still flow. That combined with the natural crossing place on the San Gabriel River attracted the Indians who would camp here, and later the cattle men that used the crossing on the Chisholm Trail. The spot has been attracting visitors for centuries. I know you're a car guy, here's a picture of my ride that day.
Thanks for sharing the info and pictures of this beautiful park.
We have never visited the San Gabriel Park if it is anything like Landa Park it New Braunfels it is nice and very family oriented. We will put that on our list of places to visit.
Mike very nice ride.... do they ever have any car shows at that park?....I really need a good reason to find my way to Texas.. thanks for sharing the pic of your car with me ....peace zane
Zane, there is a great July 4th festival in the park that includes a car show. I'll cover it next summer. Meanwhile if you want to escape some wintry day, come on down, I'll take the t tops off and we can cruise the hill country.
All right can't wait to see the photos of the car show next year ...how far are you from San Antonio? I have a cousin around there ....peace zane
we're about an hour and a half north of San Antonio. you can take a toll road now and bypass austin entirely which really helps timewise to avoid traffic on interestate 35
